Vintage Pressed-Glass Bowl
A little extravagance for the everyday table.
Clear glass rises into a wide ruffled edge, delicate as the opening of a flower. Beneath it, leaves, tiny dotted trails and geometric cuts travel toward a starburst at the bottom of the bowl.
It is especially lovely near a window. Morning makes it bright and crystalline and by evening the pattern falls in crooked little shadows across the table. There is no real grand purpose prescribed for her.
Give it strawberries in June. Wrapped sweets when company comes. Float flower heads in a little water during a Solstice. Let it gather rings and hair pins on the dresser. Fill it with nothing at all.
Some things earn their place in a house simply by being beautiful.
