The Potter's Vessel
A substantial stoneware vessel, dressed in a pale, weathered blue glaze with the warm brown of its clay showing through along the rim and handle.
Its tall, cylindrical body bears a raised emblem, pressed into the clay like an old maker’s seal. The surface is rough and uneven, with little marks and variations that give the piece its primitive character.
I imagine a vessel such as this standing in the kitchen of an old farmhouse, filled with cut branches, dried flowers, or the last gathering of herbs before winter. Something useful, made beautiful by its simplicity.
There is a quiet permanence to earthenware. Clay taken from the ground, shaped by human hands, and returned to the household as something meant to endure.
A lovely piece for a wooden shelf, an old writing desk, or a forgotten corner of the house.
Dimensions:
Weight: 2.1 lbs
Height: 6'“
Width: 6” with handle | 4” at the base
Condition: Pre-owned stoneware with variations in the glaze, exposed clay, and surface irregularities. Maker and age unknown. Recommended for decorative use.
