The Parlour Offering

$32.00

Some things were made to hold the small ceremonies of ordinary life.

An offering of bread, a letter awaiting its answer, the last flowers gathered before winter. Little things laid upon silver and given a place of their own.

This old oval tray has the appearance of something rescued from a forgotten parlour. Its elaborate border rises in soft, curling shapes, while the silver beneath has grown dark and uneven with age. There are scratches upon its surface, patches of tarnish, and the unmistakable evidence of a life spent in other hands.

I find a certain tenderness in these old domestic objects. They have witnessed the passing of generations without ever leaving the household. The people are gone, the rooms have changed, but the silver remains.

A beautiful resting place for dried herbs, small ritual objects, old photographs, or the little earthly things we gather and keep close.

I have left its age undisturbed. It seems only right that something which has survived so much should be allowed to show it.

Dimensions:

Width: 8”

Length: 13.5”

Condition: Vintage, with visible tarnish, scratches, discoloration, and wear consistent with age. Sold unpolished, with its timeworn patina intact. Metal composition and maker unverified.
