Vintage Pottery Oil Lamp with Glass Chimney
There was a time when an oil lamp was simply part of keeping a house—filled before dark, set near the bedside or carried from one room to another when the evening work was not yet finished.
This old pottery lamp has a warm brown glaze, a raised flower upon its side, a curved handle, and a tall glass chimney above the metal burner. There is something particularly lovely about its usefulness. It was made to hold a little flame against the dark.
Set it upon a bedside table, an old dresser, or among the books where the evening grows dim. Even left unlit, it has the quiet presence of an object that seems to remember lamplight.
Found secondhand and carefully tended before being offered here. Its maker is presently unknown.
Details
Measures 15.5'“ x 5'“ with a protruding 2” handle
Condition
Secondhand vintage condition with the character and wear expected of an older household piece. The burner and wick mechanism are intact and operational. Lamp oil is not included.
