The Gatherer's Spoon

$48.00

There was a time when the gathering and preparation of herbs belonged to the ordinary rhythms of keeping house. Leaves were dried in the rafters, roots stored away for winter, and simple wooden implements passed from one pair of hands to another.

This spoon was carved by hand from dark walnut in our little woodshed. Its broad, shallow bowl bears the marks of the carving knife, while its long, tapered handle rests comfortably in the palm. Nothing has been made perfectly uniform, allowing the natural grain and character of the wood to remain.

Made for the gathering of dried herbs, the tending of an apothecary shelf, or the quiet rituals of an old-fashioned household.

Materials: Solid walnut, finished with beeswax and mineral oil.

Dimensions:

9”

Hand-carved in California.

A one-of-a-kind piece.
